The Presidential Communications Office said President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. extended his warm birthday wishes to Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim on Sunday.
“To my dear friend Prime Minister Anwar, I am very pleased to welcome you on your special day. We have known each other for several years now, even before we assumed our roles as joint leaders in ASEAN,” Marcos said in his message.
“Our friendship has helped make the challenges of leadership more bearable. At times, I dare say, they have even been pleasant. To me, you are more than just a neighbour in ASEAN, you are a trusted friend with whom I share many fond memories.”
Marcos acknowledged their respective leadership roles in the region and the international community and praised Anwar’s commitment to Malaysia.
Furthermore, their shared vision, challenges and success have been a source of inspiration for further shaping the future of their respective countries.
Marcos thanked the Malaysian Prime Minister, citing the opportunities, ideas and knowledge they had shared to lead the Philippines and Malaysia toward peace and prosperity.
