Japan Airlines has unveiled a new Disney livery that will appear on one of its domestic Boeing 767 aircraft. The airline partnered with Tokyo DisneySea for the livery and has had various Disney-inspired liveries over the years.

Fantasy Springs Paint

Japan Airlines will soon launch the JAL Fantastic Journey Express, a Boeing 767 aircraft with a special livery inspired by the new Fantasy Springs-themed harbor that opened at Tokyo DisneySea® Park in June this year.

The aircraft will be on display for a limited time on domestic flights starting in late October, and has been painted as part of the airline’s collaboration with Tokyo Disney Resort®. Fantasy Springs features three areas inspired by popular Disney animated films: Frozen, Tangled and Peter Pan (which are also part of the livery). It also features the newest Disney-themed hotel, the Tokyo DisneySea Fantasy Springs Hotel.

The aircraft chosen for the livery is a 15.3-year-old Boeing 767-300ER with 252 seats (5 in first class, 42 in business class and 205 in economy class). The JAL Fantastic Journey Express is expected to operate from late October 2024 to November 2025. Exact routes and flight numbers will be published on the airline’s website the night before each flight.

What can guests expect?

The Disney theme will continue inside the aircraft, with special designs on headrest covers and paper cups. The headrest covers will be available in different colors for Business Class and Economy, while the cups will be available in three designs.

As a souvenir on board, each passenger will receive a boarding pass sticker in three different designs. However, the cups and the special boarding pass stickers are only available while stocks last; it is not possible to design your own, the airline said.

Boarding and disembarking on these flights will also be something special: the airline has decided to play the music “You Can Fly! You Can Fly! You Can Fly!” and “Journey to Fantasy Springs”.

This isn’t the first time Japan Airlines has painted one of its aircraft with Disney livery. In fact, it’s the sixth time the airline has done so since it first partnered with Tokyo DisneySea when it opened in 2001.

Alaska Airlines also maintains a close relationship with Disney and has painted several of his aircraft with various Disneyland-related liveries with characters ranging from Goofy, Pluto, Donald Duck and Daisy Duck to Woody, Buzz Lightyear and Jessie from the Toy Story series by Disney-Pixar.

WestJet has also been working with Walt Disney Parks & Resorts since 2004. The company has aircraft painted in the “Frozen” motif, as well as the so-called “Magic Plane”, a dark-colored aircraft fuselage featuring the magician Mickey from the 1940 film Fantasia.

Brazilian airline Azul Linhas Aéreas has also partnered with Disney, adding unique liveries and members of the Disney family to four of its aircraft, which it calls the “world’s most magical fleet.”
