Netflix has released a new trailer and poster for the second part of the crime anthology by Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan Monster: The Story of Lyle and Erik Menendez.

The series examines the case of brothers Lyle and Erik Menendez (Nicholas Alexander Chavez and Cooper Koch), who were sentenced to life in prison without parole in 1996 following the brutal murder of their parents in 1989.

Following the huge success of DAHMER, Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan’s true crime anthology series returns with “Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story,” telling the story of the two real-life brothers who were convicted of the murder of their parents, José and Mary Louise “Kitty” Menendez, in 1996.

While the prosecution argued that they were trying to inherit the family fortune, the brothers claimed – and continue to claim to this day, as they serve life sentences without the possibility of parole – that their actions were based on fear of lifelong physical, emotional and sexual abuse at the hands of their parents.

Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story delves into the historic case that took the world by storm, paved the way for today’s audiences’ fascination with true crime, and in turn asks audiences the question: Who are the real monsters?

The cast includes Nicholas Alexander Chavez as Lyle Menendez, Cooper Koch as Erik Menendez, Javier Bardem as José Menendez, Chloë Sevigny as Mary Louise “Kitty” Menendez, Nathan Lane as Dominick Dunne and Ari Graynor as Leslie Abramson.

“Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story” will be released on Netflix on September 19th.
