In August, I had the incredible opportunity to attend the 2024 Democratic National Convention, thanks to GU policyThis was a full-circle experience for me – one of my earliest and most vivid political memories is attending the Democratic National Convention in 2016, and I had always dreamed of attending a convention in person. This year, that dream came true.

Historically, conventions were crucial to the nomination of a party’s presidential candidate. These days, they are more symbolic, but the atmosphere is still electric, especially this year, with the unexpected twist of President Joe Biden dropping out of the race. The nomination of Vice President Kamala Harris created a wave of excitement, and you could feel the energy every day.

Before I left for the convention, I had heard politicians tell me that these events were like fun, high-energy parties. And they were right. The enthusiasm was contagious, and everyone was passionate about what they were doing. I went there with the mindset of soaking up every bit of the “party,” and I’m excited to share with you one of my favorite days of the trip that reflected that excitement.
