Marking the 250th anniversary of the Boston Tea Party, REBEL TOWN plunges you into the heart of Boston’s political crisis in 1773, when Parliament’s Tea Act ignites a storm of indignation. The attack is led by agitator Sam Adams, who calls a town meeting to confront the tyranny with three tea ships anchored in Boston Harbor. Amid the chaos, 13-year-old apprentice Peter Slater Jr. watches from Griffin’s Wharf, yearning to join the Sons of Liberty, while carpenter William Grey and his comrades guard the ships and prevent customs officials from unloading the noxious tea. From meetings at the Liberty Tree to secret plans at the Bunches of Grapes Tavern, these rebels wrestle with the burden of their resistance alongside John Hancock, Paul Revere, and Mercy Otis Warren, knowing they risk being branded as traitors…or worse, hanged for treason if caught.
A cast of actors from Boston, New York and the Berkshires bring REBEL TOWN to the stage. This theatrical experience features colorful 18th century costumes and an innovative set by Berkshire County native Ron Piazza.
