KEY TO OFFENSE

The Bobcats have started a new, faster offense for this season under new OC Mike LeGrow, and it’s crucial for Glenn’s young team to adapt quickly. “Learning the new system and being quick and playing at a high tempo is key,” Horton said. “And we need to mature as football players on the field because we’re so young. We’re definitely athletic, but we need to reduce our mistakes.”

KEY TO DEFENSE

“It’s important that we continue to build on the physicality from last year,” Horton said. “We’ve been able to reduce the number of two-way players, and that’s huge. And hopefully our defense will have the opportunity to get a break while our offense is running down the field to score.”

TOPIC FOR THE TEAM

“It takes what it takes,” Horton said. “We set a goal to make the playoffs and make a splash. We looked at what it would take to get there – a long summer, a focused start to training – and decided we would do whatever it took.”

SCRIMMAGE NOTE

The Bobcats hosted Bay City Central, Lake Fenton and Alpena for their practice game and got a taste of good things. “We’re fast,” Horton said. “In practice, you compete against each other and you can’t wait to see the jerseys in different colors to see what you really look like. Offensively, it was almost shocking how much faster and better we are this year.”
