Tropicana Las Vegas is scheduled to be demolished on October 9 to make way for the A’s stadium

The iconic The Tropicana Las Vegas hotel towers will be demolished in the early hours of Wednesday, October 9, to make way for the Oakland Athletics’ new stadium.Bally’s Corporation confirmed on Monday. The demolition will be part of a memorial event with a drone and fireworks.

Subject to final approval, the demolition is scheduled for approximately 2:30 a.m., Minimize traffic disruption and reduce dust. Bally’s Corp., the owner of the Tropicana, and the A’s are organizing a celebratory event the night beforeculminating in the explosive destruction of the Rat Pack-era resort.

The Tropicana, which closed on April 2, is set to be replaced by a $1.5 billion baseball stadium for the A’s, with construction scheduled to begin in April 2025.. The stadium is expected to be ready for the team’s move to Las Vegas for the 2028 Major League Baseball season.

Clark County has yet to grant final approval for demolition. Controlled Demolition, the contractor supervising the project, Plans to bring down the 22-story Tropicana Club Tower and the 22-story Paradise Tower in a single blast.

Bally’s has received a permit, valid from September 30 to October 8, to prepare for the implosion. Before final approval is granted, ongoing asbestos remediation work must be completed.

Ballpark project moves forward as A’s finalize agreements with Las Vegas Stadium Authority and Clark County. A community services agreement has already been approved. Development, leasing and non-relocation agreements are expected to be completed by early December.

The stadium project is being funded in part by $380 million in public funds, including $180 million in tax credits from the State of Nevada and $120 million in bonds from Clark County.The A’s plan to use $350 million in public funds, supplemented by $300 million in debt financing and $850 million in equity from the team’s owners, the Fisher family.

The next meeting of the Las Vegas Stadium Authority is scheduled for October 17, when updated versions of the agreements will be presented.which brings the groundbreaking ceremony for the project closer.
