Frontier Airlines launches 11 new routes this fall

Frontier Airlines, considered America’s greenest airline, recently announced that it will open 11 new routes to 15 airports this fall. To celebrate, the budget airline is offering one-way tickets for just $19.

Extended service

Frontier will not only expand its route network from major airports such as Denver (DEN), Orlando (MCO) and Atlanta (ATL), but will also grow somewhat more at hotly contested airports such as Newark (EWR) and New York Kennedy (JFK).

As the airline announced in its official press release, these new routes will offer consumers more cost-effective travel options throughout the United States.

Josh Flyr, Vice President of Network and Operations Design at Frontier, commented on the airline’s recent announcement:

“As consumers look forward to the fall and winter months and make their vacation plans, we are excited to once again expand our list of convenient and affordable travel options. From warm destinations like Southern California, Texas and Florida or winter sports meccas in Utah and Colorado to popular metropolitan areas like New York, Atlanta and Washington DC, you now have even more exciting destinations to choose from when you fly with Frontier.”

The new border

To curb losses, low-cost airlines like Frontier and Spirit have recently made massive changes to their fare structure. The airline calls the move “The New Frontier” and claims that it underscores its commitment to providing exceptional value and a first-class travel experience.

The new pricing structure will provide passengers with better upfront visibility into prices and more specific information about the amenities they will receive when booking certain fares.

Frontier will continue to offer its base fares, which do not include amenities such as seat selection, carry-on or checked bags. However, for just $30 more, passengers can upgrade to the “Economy Bundle,” which includes seat selection and one piece of luggage (carry-on or checked) in addition to the personal item.

Two higher-end package options include increasingly more perks, the highest of which is the “Business Package,” which doesn’t get you a proper business class seat but does give you a blocked middle seat.

Frontier claims that its prices will always be the lowest on every route, even on its cheaper fares like the Economy Bundle. On many of these routes, the airline will compete more heavily with established carriers like Delta.

Competition in the markets is leading to lower fares, so passengers are likely to see falling prices on the above-mentioned routes following Frontier’s entry into the market later this year.

Frontier continues to be the most fuel-efficient U.S. airline thanks to its modern A320 Family fleet, which consists primarily of A320neo aircraft. In addition, its high-density seating layouts and weight-saving initiatives have helped the airline achieve this title.
