Think gender reveal parties are overrated? This Singaporean couple turned to pro wrestling.

KUALA LUMPUR, August 6 – It’s 2024 and you’d think some people would realize that baby gender reveal parties are at least 10 years out of date.

But these expectant parents from Singapore, who shared their party on Reddit, proved that such parties don’t have to be cheesy and over-the-top, and that everyone can have fun and be entertained, even while watching via remote control.

On the r/singapore site, Reddit user hueshonhue today recounted in a 42-second video clip how the Ongs held a gender reveal of their children at pro wrestling last weekend.

The video, titled “Singapore’s First Gender Reveal Wrestling Party,” begins with two guys in a ring; one dressed in blue, the other in pink, with his short hair tied up in two small ponytail braids on either side of his head.

If the blue professional wrestler wins, it’s a boy; and if the pink one wins, it’s a girl.

We are told that Mama Ong knows the baby’s gender, but Papa doesn’t. Cue betting money on a side table.

And so the gender reveal begins, with the two amateurs showing off their pro wrestling moves to the music of “Baby Shark.”

There’s the classic Diving Clothesline, where Player Blue attacks Player Pink by jumping off the ring rope and even swinging him upside down before slamming him into the mat.

But Player Pink is no wimp and does a breaststroke jump onto the lying Player Blue.

The crowd – there are front row seats for everyone – goes wild!

Viewers are also going crazy in the Reddit comments below.

“I don’t like gender reveal parties. But this is entertaining,” wrote TheBorkenOne.

“If you want to be rich, at least be creatively rich, thanks. That’s sweet,” said 2ddudesop.

Those who don’t know what a gender reveal party is, like this seemingly clueless Reddit user aidilism, can be glad he asked, “Sorry uncle, but what is a gender reveal party?”

Redditor DuePomegranate’s response:

“It is a party usually thrown by a pregnant woman to announce to friends and family whether the fetus is male or female.

“I guess after that, friends and family will know what color clothes to buy and gift the baby?”

Oh, in case you’re wondering how it turned out, Baby Ong is a boy! Player Blue won.
