Titans trade QB Malik Willis to Green Bay Packers for draft pick

The Malik Willis era in Tennessee is over.

The Tennessee Titans are trading the quarterback with the Green Bay Packers in exchange for a seventh-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, a source confirmed to The Tennessean on Monday.

The Titans selected Willis in the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft out of Liberty and he started several games as a rookie but was unable to establish himself at the position and was eventually replaced by Will Levis as the Titans’ quarterback successor.

Willis served as the Titans’ third quarterback behind Levis and Mason Rudolph throughout training camp.

Willis was 1-2 in his time with the Titans as a starter. In 11 games, he threw for 350 yards with no touchdowns and three interceptions and rushed for 123 yards and a touchdown. He helped the Titans to a 3-0 preseason this year, his first chance to play in new coach Brian Callahan’s system, and was particularly impressive in his final game with two fourth-quarter touchdowns that secured a 30-27 win over the New Orleans Saints on Sunday.

“It’s out of my hands,” Willis said Sunday night when asked how he would handle the possibility of being released or traded this week. “More than anything, I just control what I can control. I just try to do my best to put some good stuff on tape.”

“Malik really came out well in that game,” Callahan added Monday. “I thought he played well. He made some really nice throws on video. You still see his athleticism with the ball in his hands … I’m excited about what (Willis and Rudolph) did and what that means. We keep three or we keep two and send one to the practice squad, or we keep just two. We’ll continue to go through those decisions over the next 48 hours. But they certainly made that decision difficult, and that’s their job.”

Levis and Rudolph are the only remaining quarterbacks on the Titans’ roster. The Titans must trim their roster to 53 players on Tuesday.

Willis, 25, joins a Green Bay Packers quarterback staff led by Jordan Love, who led the team to a playoff appearance in his first full year as a starter in 2023 and was rewarded with a generous contract extension.
