Toy Story 5 brings Woody and Buzz back out of retirement and will be released in 2026

While D23 2024The Disney Presentation in which they present their most important upcoming projects and releases in all their fields, filmmakers Andrew Stanton entered the stage and gave a first good insight into Toy Story 5in which the usual toy gang around Woody, Buzz and Jessie have to compete “against the electronics”.

While not much was shown in terms of animation previews other than the teaser below that ran on screen during Stanton’s announcement, the filmmaker did reveal some concept art and plot details about the upcoming film, including the fact that he will write and direct the screenplay.

In addition, some of the most iconic toys were shown on screen, showing Bonnie, their child, under her bed covers playing with a tablet device. Apparently, the gang will be battling for the children’s attention in this new film. And perhaps that battle is a little too literal, because another of the pieces revealed at the show was an army of menacing Buzz Lightyears, all with glowing red lights on their chests, hinting at their evilness.

Pixar’s Toy Story 5 will be in theaters on October 1, 2018. June 19, 2026.
