Top events at this year’s Mountain View Art & Wine Festival

The Mountain View Art & Wine Festival returns to Castro Street on September 7 and 8. This free annual event features music, art, vendors, food, sports and more and is presented by the Mountain View Chamber of Commerce. And since last year, it’s expanded to include 50 vendors. Here’s some of what festival-goers can expect.

Community art and music
A unique aspect of the festival is the community-based Paint Temple, a mobile art project that invites the community to participate. Located on the corner of Castro and Dana, visitors can add their own touch to the art temple while immersing themselves in the sounds of Dancepark DJ Collective spinning house music.

Italian street painting
California Street becomes a canvas on which viewers can admire professional street art.
Painters called Madonnari use chalk to create 10-by-10-foot artworks. Kids can join in and create street art in a smaller square using a box of chalk for $10.

Fun zone for kids
For families with children there is an area that is specifically designed for kids’ fun:

  • Face painting: Kids can be tigers, superheroes, butterflies or anything else.
    or at the stand of It’s Fun Face Painting.
  • Bungee Jump: Super Bungee is a bungee trampoline that takes children in
    the air while safely strapped in.
  • Henna tattoos: Children can get a temporary and painless tattoo from a henna artist
    Swati Shah of Henna Traditions. The ink is made from henna plant leaves, which
    dye the skin for one to two weeks with elaborate patterns and designs, traditionally
    on hands and feet.
  • Waterballerz: Children can walk on water by climbing into transparent inflatable balls
    swim in a shallow pool.
  • Avery’s Avenue is a children’s boutique that offers the latest trends in children’s fashion.
    Clothes and accessories for newborns to 12-year-olds. Everything is handmade
    selected and carefully put together with comfort, style and quality in mind.
  • Robotics: Spartan Robotics presents a robot and offers Lego robotics
    activities.
  • Balloon Art: Noah, the Balloon Ninja, creates unique designs that
    Balloonists of all kinds will love it.

Music on the main stage
The PG&E Main Stage at the Civic Center Plaza will feature a lineup of popular Bay Area artists.

Immerse yourself in live music as you stroll through the artwork with live performances
Performing throughout the event will be artists such as the exceptionally talented jazz singer Thùy Linh, melodic tunes from Bob Culbertson, one of the first Chapman Stick players, and Ancient Winds will transport you to the majestic Andes of Ecuador with his traditional flute playing. Experience DJ Devan-Air as he seamlessly blends beats from house to techno, hip-hop to EDM, giving every festival-goer an unforgettable experience.

Delicious drinks
Raise your glasses and toast to the good life surrounded by friends and fellow wine lovers. Wine lovers, rejoice! From bold reds to crisp whites, enjoy a delicious selection of varietals from renowned local vineyards and wineries.

Community talent stage
Local artists, including well-known veterans and new acts, showcase their talents in singing, martial arts performances, instrumental performances, cheerleading, ballet, other dances and more.

Sports lounge
At Xfinity’s Party Lounge, located at the intersection of Castro and Mercy Streets, sports fans can purchase drinks and bring food from one of the numerous booths to enjoy during the game. A 9-by-12-foot LED screen will broadcast live college football, the National Football League’s opening weekend and Major League Baseball’s season-ending games before the World Series.

Wine bar
At St. Francis Winery & Vineyards’ Airstream Wine Bar, festival-goers can sample award-winning, fruit-forward wines from Sonoma County.

There they can take a photo at a backdrop booth, create a custom wine glass charm and spin a wheel to win a prize.

Live shirt printing
Visitors can commemorate their time at the Mountain View Art & Wine Festival with a visit to San Franpsycho, where event merchandise is printed live on-site. Visitors select a t-shirt in the right size and style, then watch it be printed with a design in front of them while they wait.

The Mountain View Art and Wine Festival, which takes place this year on September 7th and 8th, is one of the
