Despite Saturday’s rain, 301 cowboys and cowgirls headed to the Enumclaw Expo Center’s rodeo arena over the weekend to buck, tie and lasso their way to the finals in September.
Although Plateau native Krystal Pennington, a breakaway roper, did not place in her discipline, her success at the Port Angeles Rodeo last weekend allowed her to move up from 11th to 9th in the top 12 heading to Salem, Oregon, on Sept. 20-21.
But she hasn’t decided yet because she has to compete against Roy and Monroe first.
