LVDC hosts art, education and networking events in September

Las Vegas Design Center (LVDC) is gearing up for a busy September with three events on September 6, 7 and 19 designed to inspire, educate and connect the Las Vegas design community. These events provide professionals with the opportunity to earn CEU credits and practice design skills, as well as offering the public a unique insight into the world of design.

“We are excited to present an exciting program of events in September,” said Cain Brodie, General Manager of LVDC. “LVDC is committed to promoting education and fostering connections within the design community.”

September 6: First Friday Session explores performance fabrics with Sunbrella

To kick off the September program, the Las Vegas Design Center (LVDC) is hosting a First Friday session, “Sustainable functional fabrics: From fiber to design”, September 6, 10am-12pm. This insightful event will explore the entire lifecycle of performance fabrics – from fiber selection to final design – with a focus on sustainable practices within the industry. Attendees will gain an in-depth understanding of natural and synthetic fibers, dyeing and finishing techniques, and common testing methods used in the performance fabrics industry. The session will also explore the application of these fabrics in luxury and lifestyle design, making it a must-attend event for professionals who value sustainability and innovation in their work.

Following the seminar, participants will be able to enjoy light refreshments in the OW Lee and Telescope Casual exhibition spaces, providing a relaxed atmosphere for networking and further discussion of the topics covered. The session will provide 0.1 CEU credits to participants and registration is required.

September 7: Art 4 Autism Reception concludes month-long fundraiser

On Saturday, September 7, LVDC will host a Champagne artist receptioncelebrates and marks the end of the third annual Art 4 Autism exhibition, a month-long fundraiser in partnership with Families for Effective Autism Treatment (FEAT). The installation of custom art created by adults and children with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) is currently on display in the atrium of Building A at World Market Center Las Vegas, and each original piece of the installation is up for auction. Fifty percent of the proceeds benefit FEAT and 50 percent are given directly to the artists.

The event will culminate in a VIP gallery reception on September 7 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., where the public is invited to view the artwork, meet the artists, and participate in a silent auction. No registration is required to attend the reception. Art lovers can also support the cause by bidding on the pieces on display in the online auction, which runs through September 7.

September 19: Swatched! IDS design competition celebrates its premiere in Las Vegas

On Thursday, September 19, LVDC and the Interior Design Society will host “Las Vegas swatched!”a fun and exciting interior design game where participants are put under time pressure to create a vision board based on a given template. With surprises such as “mystery items” provided by the event’s sponsors, individual participants, duos and students compete to win their categories and the evening’s “Best in Show” award, which is chosen by a panel of celebrity judges.

The event was created by the Long Island Chapter of IDS (Interior Design Society) and is held in both Long Island and Portland. The first event in Las Vegas also serves as a fundraiser for the Nevada Childhood Cancer Foundation. The event runs from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., winners will be announced and a celebration will begin at 8:00 p.m.
