It may have been too close for comfort, but the U.S. team earned a clear win over Serbia on Thursday to advance to Saturday’s gold medal game.
The US basketball team, with stars such as LeBron James, Steph Curry and Kevin Durant, initially fell behind by as many as 17 points, but was then able to secure the lead in the final minutes and defend it with a four-point lead of 95:91.
“I’m really honored to have been a part of this game,” US coach Steve Kerr said after Thursday’s game, according to ESPN. “It’s one of the greatest basketball games I’ve ever been a part of. They were perfect. They played a perfect game.”
