LEXINGTON, Ky. (Aug. 26, 2024) – UK’s opening game of the football season against the Southern Miss Golden Eagles will take place on August 31 at Kroger Field.

This first home game means some permit holders will have to move their vehicles to make room for Wildcat fans. The University appreciates the cooperation of staff and students to make game day a smooth and enjoyable experience for all.

Students and staff parking in the following parking lots and buildings should re-park their vehicles before 7:00 a.m. on game day (Saturday):

  • Peripheral parking lots (RK, CK and EK) at Kroger Field (blue, south red and orange lot), Commonwealth Drive parking lot, College Way East and West parking lots and Wildcat Court parking lots
  • North Red Lot (E10, C10 and R10)
  • Sports center garage (PS No. 7)
  • Drive Lots Sports Centre
  • Shively Lot (R16 and C16)
  • Land for agricultural greenhouses near the north building of the Agriculture Science Center
  • University Drive Garage (PS #1)

In addition, students and employees who park in the green parking lot (C10, R10, E10) should repark their vehicle before 10pm on Friday before home games.

On game days, parking along University Drive is prohibited after 12:01 a.m.

In addition, parking with UK Football campervan permits is permitted in the large Gluck Equine Centre car park and part of the Orange car park from 7.30pm on the Friday before home games.

Therefore, members of the University community who park in these parking lots on Fridays should avoid parking in the designated RV areas if they anticipate needing to remain on campus past 7:30 p.m.

On this map you will find details of the motorhome parking areas in Orange.

After the game, vehicles must be returned to the authorized parking areas before 5 a.m. on September 3. Note: September 2 is Labor Day, an official university holiday.

The vehicle diversion map with a full list of diversion times can be found here. Failure to divert your vehicle to the designated areas may result in a citation or impoundment of the vehicle.

Individuals departing before 7:30 p.m. will be permitted to use these areas. However, vehicles remaining in the restricted areas after this time will be redirected by the University to the designated vehicle diversion area located on the southwest corner of the Orange parking lot adjacent to the Alumni Drive exit of the Orange parking lot.

In addition to the vehicle shift, there are also some changes to the yellow route on home game weekends. On those days, buses will not travel into the crowded area around Kroger Field. Instead, they will turn around near the university and hospital entrances and travel through all major residential areas of campus. The modified route begins two hours before the game and continues one hour after the game.
