Dwayne Johnson shared a very touching post from his father on Instagram. In the post, he mentioned: “Happy birthday, Soulman. My old man was a true trailblazer as a pro wrestler in the ’60s, ’70s and ’80s.
As a black athlete, he has changed the racist behavior of many people over the years with his talent in the ring and his incredible work ethic in the gym.
He taught me lessons – good and bad. Sometimes this father-son dynamic can be complicated, but in the end, it’s still love. I miss my old man and wish I could hug him one more time. Happy birthday, Soulman”
The post has over a million likes at the time of writing, and many of his fans have expressed their support for the late Rocky Johnson and wished him well as well. As a black athlete when racism was still rampant, he paved the way for other people of color and brought about significant change in the industry with his work ethic and behavior in the ring.
He is indeed a pioneer in the truest sense of the word and has received several awards and titles throughout his career. Despite their turbulent relationship, The Rock has always held his father in high regard and is generally a very helpful person who tries to help as many people as possible.
