Like the rest of the world, I have been following the Olympics closely and one of the highlights so far has been seeing Simone Biles win a ton of medals.
I watched her TikTok video, discovered a video of her dancing in her living room, and immediately fell in love with her casual yet luxurious look. I asked interior designers why her sofa, cozy blanket, paneled walls, and more fit the space so well.

“The wood-paneled walls are architecturally interesting and make the space feel larger. In smaller homes, you can achieve a similarly stylish effect by painting an accent wall or adding simple wood trim,” says Pam Hutter, interior designer and principal of Hutter Architects.
Nina agrees, adding that placing the TV above the fireplace makes the most of the space and creates a clean, streamlined look, while the light wood fireplace below creates a connection to the room’s floor.
She continues: “The light wood floors in Simone’s living room are a key element in creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. Their natural finish adds a touch of natural beauty, complements the light wood fireplace and enhances the overall sense of harmony in the space.”
The whole thing is held together by the chic ceiling fan. “Its elegant design complements the modern elements of the room, such as the grey sofa and wall panelling, while its functionality ensures comfort all year round,” says Nina.
