The Boys Season 5 Gets Exciting Story Update From Star (Exclusive)

The boys has just finished season 4 and set the stage for the series’ final act with the penultimate season, but fans are dying to know when they will see season 5.

The season four finale may not have gone quite as many expected. Not only did Jim Beaver’s Robert Singer not die, but Victoria Neuman (played by
Claudia Doumit) was torn to pieces by the evil Billy Butcher (Karl Urban), who had freaked out after the demise of his stepson Ryan, after making a deal with the Boys.

But at the end of the day, super-powered Homelander’s plans still came to fruition, albeit with a few minor changes. Vought and his Supes are now in power, and a new dangerous regime rules the United States.

In an exclusive interview with Russ Milheim of The Direct The boys Star Nathan Mitchell, who plays Black Noir in the series (both in the original series and as Vought’s replacement in season 4), commented on when cameras might roll on the fifth and final season of Amazon Studios’ hit Prime Video series.

The actor admitted to having heard “Hints” about when filming for season 5 might begin, but could not give any details. He did, however, hint that it “go back relatively soon:”

“I’ve heard hunches, but hopefully we’ll be back. I don’t know if I can officially say when we’ll be back. But we’ll be back relatively soon. And the writers have cooked up some great stuff. So they’re in the kitchen. And they’re cooking up some crazy shit.”

The Direct couldn’t help but ask Mitchell if he knew how it would all end, to which he admitted “they did not say (to him):”

“They didn’t tell me that. I know they’re working on it, but no, they’ve kept it pretty secret.”

As for what’s next for Black Noir, Mitchell shared that he has spoken with showrunner Eric Kripke about what will happen to his character, which the actor portrays as his “Dream:”

“I’ve been talking to (showrunner) Eric (Kripke) about what Season 5 is going to be like, and I’m so excited. I had a few ideas, but when he came in, he was like – the second he told me what he was planning, I was like, ‘Oh my God, that’s my dream.’ I’m so happy we get to explore that.”

But what would Mitchell personally hypothetically like to see from this newly hired Black Noir in Season 5?

“I want to see how he fights against it” The “Restrictions” that his role in “The Seven” has the following impact, the actor explained:

“There are so many limitations to this role. So I want to see him fight against those limitations. You know… How much does he rebel against Homelander? In terms of the limitations of his role. Are there consequences?… Would people accept that? All of those questions come to mind. And I don’t know yet what we’re getting into in detail… I think hopefully as we go along, as we jump into season five, we’ll explore more of his ambitions…”

On the idea that Black Noir might show his face in Generation V Season 2, as he is an alumnus of Godolkin University, Mitchell admitted that “would be great”, although “it hasn’t happened yet:”

“I mean, that would be great. I would love it. I mean, it hasn’t happened yet, but I think that’s a great idea. And it would be a lot of fun. And yes, he’s an alumnus. But he also has a very useful side to him. And yes, meeting the kids at Godolkin and maybe sharing some wisdom or insight with them would be a lot of fun.”

When could production of season 5 of The Boys begin?

One thing that can affect the launch date is The boys Season 5 is the production of Generation V Season 2, which began in mid-May (after a delay due to the tragic death of star Chance Palermo).

The boys In Season 5, production overlaps should be avoided if possible, especially since there is likely to be character overlap. This is probably even more true with Homelander and his Supes overseeing the world.

Generation V Season 1 took two months to film, so if Season 2 is filmed in the same time frame, production could wrap up by the end of August. However, given the challenges they’ve had to face, a month or two longer than normal wouldn’t be surprising.

Fortunately, fans won’t have to wait as long as they did for Season 4, which was significantly delayed last year due to strikes in the industry. Thankfully, they are not affected this time.

If production begins before the end of the year, which is quite possible according to Nathan Mitchell, then The boys the final season could air in the first half of 2026 (a 2026 release window was apparently confirmed by star Karl Urban).

Mitchell’s Black Noir offers a lot of narrative potential. If the actor’s enthusiasm for showrunner Erik Kripke’s plans is anything to go by, fans should jump on the hype train early.

Admittedly, it would also be a fantastic opportunity for this new noir to spend some time with his former Goldolkin colleagues, be it in Generation V Season 2 or The boys Season 5.

The boys is now streaming on Prime Video from Amazon Studios.
