EPCC welcomes breastfeeding groups at 5 locations

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) – Mamava breastfeeding capsules are now available at five El Paso Community College (EPCC) locations in El Paso.

EPCC students with parental responsibilities or students who help raise their children (caregivers) are welcome to bring their children while they study or do homework at the centers, according to an EPCC press release.

EPCC said the breastfeeding booths will be available to students, faculty and staff any time the campuses in Mission del Paso, Valle Verde, Rio Grande, Northwest and the Administrative Services Center are open.

“The EPCC Family Friendly Campus teams are excited to support parents and families of EPCC students with spaces and activities designed to make them and their families feel welcome and provide a support system to help student parents persevere and complete their studies,” said Lucia Rodriguez, Director of the Office of Student Success and lead organizer of the Family Friendly Project. “Nursing booths provide mothers with a quiet, private space to take a moment to recharge while breastfeeding or pumping. Breastfeeding booths are designed to encourage breastfeeding parents to come to campus, stay or return to school early, stay enrolled, and graduate.”

According to EPCC, the nursing pods do not have room numbers.

“The Mamava XL-V6 pods are considered the best pods for public venues and large workspaces and are wheelchair accessible. The pods will have a mobile app that will allow students to open the pod with their phones,” the press release said.
