The Woodlands Christian Academy (TWCA) announces the opening of a new $10.8 million fine arts education building and soon-to-be-completed outdoor amphitheater. The new facility will open at the start of TWCA’s school year on Tuesday, August 13.

The 22,585 square foot, single-story Fine Arts Education Building, now called The Benjamin Wells School of the Arts, is the newest addition to the school’s 40-acre campus. “I am so grateful for the generous support of our families and friends. This additional learning space will allow our students to grow and develop even more as leaders for Christ – spiritually, intellectually, creatively, physically and socially,” said Julie Ambler, Principal. “Our goal is to provide a state-of-the-art learning center where students can explore many avenues of creative expression, gain skills and pursue excellence in their areas of interest, and build self-confidence.”

Phil Sweger, Director of Fine Arts, stated, “I want to thank everyone who made this opening possible. The Benjamin Wells School of the Arts will meet the growing needs of our Fine Arts Department and will serve current and future students in our middle and high schools, preparing the next generation to serve Christ’s eternal kingdom.”

The ceremonial groundbreaking took place on Tuesday, May 30, 2023. A private opening reception was held on Friday, August 9, 2024, followed by an open house for the TWCA community on Monday, August 12, at the school’s annual Warrior Nation Night.

Woodlands Christian Academy affirms the biblical teaching that God is a creative God who created each of us in His image. Therefore, TWCA believes that God wants its students to appreciate His creation as they discover and develop their creative gifts and talents. A rich curriculum in the fine arts can be an essential part of a student’s well-rounded education and provide a great opportunity to honor God.

Thirty years ago, a courageous group of visionaries were charged with creating and establishing a school where students could learn from exceptional teachers and grow in their faith in Christ. Woodlands Christian Academy opened in September 1993 with 150 students and today has 860 proud “Warrior” students. This has been made possible through the leadership of a dedicated Board of Directors, school administration, faculty and staff, and the generous support of Woodlands Christian families, the community, and the school’s growing Forever Warriors Alumni Association.
