The CB2 designer collective: combining soul and perspective with Afrocentric designs by Studio Anansi

CB2, a design-conscious furniture and interiors retailer, has just launched its Designer Collective, showcasing the visionaries behind its world-class designs. Composed of some of the world’s most innovative and influential designers, this team embodies creativity, innovation and cultural richness. Today’s collection features over 20 designers from cities such as Barcelona and Melbourne, each bringing their own style.

The designer collective ensures that CB2’s collection has soul and perspective, and each piece reflects a personal touch. This line-up began with a few designers in 2010 and has shaped CB2’s atmosphere for more than a decade. They launched their first collaboration with “CB2 x Novogratz” and kept the momentum going with reissues from design legends like Paul McCobb in 2021. Now, more than 50 studios will work on CB2’s seasonal collections.

Evan Jerry, designer and founder of Studio Anansi, is a standout. The name “Anansi” comes from West African and West Indian legends and represents a mythical figure that symbolizes knowledge and storytelling. Jerry’s work combines modernity with Afrocentric elements and weaves his Caribbean heritage into sculptural and architectural designs.

Growing up in Canada, Jerry was influenced by the importance of an ancestral figure like Anansi, who transforms weakness into strength. This practice of representation and transformation is evident in his work, offering a clever and confronting understanding of our connections to the past.

“CB2 has been working with top designers for years, but now we’re making them even stronger with the Designer Collective,” says CB2 President Ryan Turf. “Our designers are the heart of our brand. Their unique perspectives and skills allow us to create collections that are not only stunning but deeply meaningful, pushing the boundaries of design and offering our customers something truly special.”

From the material-focused silhouettes of Bremen-based designer Jannis Ellenberger to the unique shapes of Caleb Zipperer, the collective’s diverse design philosophies give CB2 a clear advantage in presenting innovative, high-quality pieces. The designer collective offers more than just attractive furniture; it celebrates the stories, cultures and artistic visions of each designer, positioning CB2 as a true pioneer in the field of interior design.
