John Legend made history when he became an EGOT card holder. But the “Never Break” singer is far more impressed with his title as a father. As a father of four children (all of whom are dads with his wife Chrissy Teigen), Legend’s next effort lives up to that role.
John Legend will be releasing a children’s album titled My Favorite Dream later this month. Ahead of the release, Legend shared on Instagram that the album will be produced entirely by Sufjan Stevens. In the caption of the post, Legend praised Stevens and his contribution to the upcoming album.
“I am grateful for his genius,” he wrote. “He blessed the album with music that exceeded my expectations and imagination.”
But the collaboration doesn’t end there: The album will contain nine original songs and five cover versions (two songs by Fisher-Price, “Three Little Birds” and “You Are My Sunshine” by Bob Marley). Legend’s children Luna and Miles and his wife will have a singing appearance on the single “LOVE”.
Legend previously detailed the origins of the project in his post. “I decided to go all out and make an entire album of sing-alongs and lullabies for kids and families,” he wrote. “I sat at our family piano and wrote nine original songs full of messages we share with our children: words of encouragement, comfort, love, togetherness, imagination, discovery, and SLEEP.”
