Bobby Wood continued his strong play with two first-half goals, while Luca Langoni added another goal and an assist in his MLS debut as the New England Revolution rolled over hosts CF Montreal 5-0 on Saturday night.

Nick Lima and Giacomo Vrioni also scored goals and Carles Gil added two assists for the Revolution (8-14-2, 26 points), which ended a four-game winless streak.

Montreal (6-11-9, 27 points) remained winless in its last three league games (0-2-1).

New England took the lead in the seventh minute when a pass from Gil found the feet of Brandon Bye. The defender’s cross from the right side of the box was converted by Wood with a curling shot to make it 1-0.

The Revs doubled their lead to 2-0 in the 37th minute. In a curious sequence right in front of the goal, Wood snatched the ball from several Montreal defenders and slid it over the goal line. Wood has scored four times in his last three games in all competitions.

In the 71st minute, the lead grew to 3-0. Vrioni cleverly played a back pass from Gil in the penalty area to Lima, who immediately took advantage of his chance.

Langoni, who was signed from Boca Juniors on August 2 for a reported $7 million transfer fee – a club record – came on in the 77th minute and made an immediate impact, setting up Vrioni’s goal in the 79th minute and increasing the lead to 5-0 with a goal of his own in the 83rd minute.

Vrioni seemingly could have made it 6-0 in the 90th minute, but he was offside.

Aljaz Ivacic saved four goals and kept his fourth clean sheet this season. Jonathan Sirois made one save for Montreal.

The Revs had to make a player substitution in the 12th minute as Bye apparently had to leave the field with a leg injury.
