Buffalo’s “The Voice” candidate comes to the Asian Village

GEDDES NY (WSYR-TV) – Independent musician and contestant on NBC’s Voice Season 21 will perform tonight, Saturday the 24th, at the fair’s Asian Village.

To this day, Joshua Vacanti can barely remember making it to “The Voice”… let alone being in one of the show’s final rounds.

Vacanti claims that The Voice was a “journey in and of itself. I felt like the world was going through what I was going through. I’ve been through so much myself. First I was in LA for months and then I ended up alone in a hotel room hanging out with celebrities like John Legend and Arianna Grande.”

After using his block on Arianna Grande, Vacanti had John Legend as a mentor. He learned so much about the music industry working alongside these music stars.

“John was so cool! He was a great mentor to me and everyone on his team. When we walked into a room, we knew we were going to get great advice and that he was going to make us the best artists we could be,” Vacanti said.

At the age of eight, Vacanti began his singing career, performing on stages in Buffalo like the one behind me.

An opportunity to not only pursue his passion, but also to find people who are just like him. Joshua has been involved in theater his entire life and found the theater and music department to be a safe place for him.

“I didn’t mind bullying, so the musical and that part of the school were like a safe space for me. They made me the person I am today and the person I want to continue to be in my adult life,” says Vacanti.

But tonight he wants to inspire the younger generation to get on stage and step out of their comfort zone, while reminding them that this community will always exist.
