The Browns won the coin toss to start and forfeited. Green Bay started with the ball at the 30-yard line after a touchback. The Packers opened with a 7-yard pass to Josh Jacobs on the first attempt before Jordan Love threw a 65-yard touchdown pass to Dontayvion Wicks that put the Packers up 7-0 with 13 minutes, 38 seconds left in the first quarter after Anders Carlson scored on a point attempt.

Corey Ballentine started at cornerback in place of Jaire Alexander (personal matter), who was one of the 12 absentees in Saturday’s season opener.

Cleveland drove to the Green Bay 34-yard line before defensive tackle Devonte Wyatt pressured Jameis Winston, forcing him to sack Lukas Van Ness for a 7-yard loss. After a 4-yard pass to Michael Woods II, Cade York kicked a 55-yard field goal to cut Green Bay’s lead to 7-3 with 8:46 left in the first quarter.

Sean Clifford stepped in as quarterback behind the second team’s offensive line on the second series. On third and ninth, receiver Grant DuBose provoked a defensive holding on Kahlef Hailassie and thus achieved a first down. The Packers lost the ball on one down after AJ Dillon was stopped on fourth and 1 and could not gain any ground.

Eric Stokes took over at the Green Bay 46-yard line and held on a Pierre Strong second-and-2 run for no gain, then combined with Lukas Van Ness for a 1-yard tackle for a loss. The Browns were forced to punt after Cedric Tillman was penalized for offensive pass interference following a pick on Green Bay linebacker Eric Wilson.

Joel Wilson caught a 9-yard pass from Clifford through the middle and converted it on third-and-7. Clifford evaded a blitz with a 4-yard pass to DuBose after a hot read, but his third-and-11 pass to Wilson was not enough for the first down.
