A Hamilton County grand jury indicted 40-year-old Kenneth Mortimer on 11 counts, including murder, kidnapping and aggravated assault in connection with an attack on his parents in Green Township on August 9. If convicted, Kenneth Mortimer faces life in prison without the possibility of parole, according to a press release from the Hamilton County District Attorney’s Office issued Monday.

Green Township police were dispatched to the 3000 block of Palmhill Lane around 3:57 p.m. for a report of a possible stabbing attack. When they arrived, officers found Kenneth Mortimer’s father covered in blood and his mother, also covered in blood, lying unconscious on the ground.

According to court documents, he stabbed his parents, both 75, to death after arguing with his mother because she wouldn’t let him stay at their Palmhill Lane home. When his mother told his father to call mental health services, Kenneth Mortimer grabbed a knife and stabbed his parents as they sat on the couch, police reported. His mother ran, but he dragged her back into the house and stabbed her multiple times, documents say.

Cincinnati police later found and arrested the suspect near Mount Airy Forest after he fled the scene in a car, according to prosecutors. He later confessed to the crime on video, court documents say.

Kenneth Mortimer’s attorney is Connor Reilly of Ernst & Associates. A representative for the firm declined to comment on his behalf.

Kenneth Mortimer is being held at the Hamilton County Justice Center on $2 million bail.
