The love story of Princess Martha Louise and Durek Verrett: How they met, engagement, wedding date and more

After three years of dating, Durek proposed to her under an oak tree on a friend’s horse farm in San Juan Capistrano, California. “It was really beautiful, like a blessing from the horses,” Martha Louise said. City and country.

“It was a perfect tribute to our love for horses and our love for each other,” Durek added.

The shaman proposed to her with a pale green Brazilian emerald and diamond piece full of symbolism – four pyramid diamonds symbolize earth, air, fire and water, three diamonds represent the princess’s three daughters and a Viking knot stands for eternal love.

Durek began designing the engagement ring less than two years after their relationship began, and when the time seemed right, he asked Martha Louise’s parents, King Harald and Queen Sonja, for their blessing.

“The queen asked me about my prospects and how I could provide for her and the children and so on,” Durek told Town & Country. “There was a moment of silence. And I think that was the part that scared me the most. But they said yes.”

Martha Louise announced her engagement on Instagram in June 2022, showing off her exquisite ring.

“I am so happy to announce that I am engaged to Durek, the shaman who makes my heart sing, who sees me and acknowledges my highest potential, who makes me laugh and who I can be vulnerable with,” she wrote.
