After training together, the Packers feel “definitely ready for Week 1”

GREEN BAY – After practicing together on Thursday, it sounds like both the Ravens and Packers were pleased with the performance of their players on both sides of the ball.

A little iron sharpens iron, so the Packers are as fit as possible before their Week 1 game.

“We just did what the Green Bay Packers do,” Packers edge rusher Rashan Gary said. “We go out there, start fast and play physical. We don’t really care about the other team and what they do. We don’t care about the players, it’s about what we have in the building and what we believe and what we believe.”

According to the eye test and the Packers’ consensus, this joint practice was far better than last week’s against Denver.

“I think just for our goals and starting the season, it was definitely a focus to get that training back on track. I think it’s all about focusing and focusing on the details. I think it was a little bit sloppy in Denver.”

Jordan Love and the offense were in top form on Thursday. In the red zone, Love threw 4 touchdowns on 4 attempts to three different receivers (Watson 1, Kraft 1, Doubs 2).

“I definitely love spreading the wealth down there. I make sure everyone eats. These guys do a great job of just getting free and making those plays. I like where we are on offense and I think we’re ready to go — the season can start.”

What better test for the defense with a new coordinator than against two-time MVP Lamar Jackson?

“I thought he tried to outplay me one time, he almost got me,” Packers cornerback Jaire Alexander said of his former Louisville teammate. “Thank God he didn’t. I think our defense was on a tear today and I think we looked a lot better than last week.”

The defense wasn’t perfect, but the back line caused unrest all afternoon.

“I’m just excited to see them in Week 1 and the rest of the season,” Alexander said. “These guys are going to make our job easier and we’re going to play them, so it’s going to be a show.”

The defense had a good day overall, but according to star cornerback Jaire Alexander, they are not finished yet.”

“I think we still have some work to do,” said Alexander. “Give me two weeks and I can answer that question fully.”

As for the team’s preparation for Week 1 against the Eagles in Brazil, Love says, “I think we’re definitely ready for Week 1.”
