Vice President Harris accepts her party’s nomination in Chicago

CHICAGO (Gray Media) – The Democratic National Convention concluded on Thursday. The four-day pep rally in Chicago ended with a party candidate that no one expected more than a month ago.

A poor performance by President Joe Biden at the June 27 debate demoralized many Democrats. On Thursday night, the party seemed more energized than any other Democrat. Led by Vice President Kamala Harris, a new generation took the helm, with the full support of leaders past, present and future.

“I accept your nomination for President of the United States of America,” Vice President Harris told a raucous crowd.

It was a historic moment and a glimmer of hope for a party beginning a new chapter. The first black or Asian woman to accept the nomination of a major party reintroduced herself to the nation.

“The path that has brought me here in recent weeks was undoubtedly unexpected. But unusual journeys are nothing new to me,” said Vice President Harris.

The vice president praised the work of President Joe Biden in making way for her, and pointed to her administration’s supposed successes as proof that she could take on his role. Harris then attacked her opponents, portraying them as backward politicians trying to take the country back decades into the past.

“Donald Trump is an untrustworthy man. But the consequences of Donald Trump’s return to the White House are extremely serious,” said Vice President Harris.

The vice president ended the evening and the week-long party on an optimistic note. After weeks of building momentum, a boost from the convention will likely add fuel to the fire. But soon the inexperienced campaign will be thrown in at the deep end for the final stretch to Election Day.

“I see a nation ready to move forward. Ready for the next step in the incredible journey that is America,” said Vice President Harris.

The final sprint towards November begins immediately for Harris Walz’s candidate team, they are storming into the swing states and hoping to benefit from a new wave of enthusiasm.
