Ramaswamy: Media not reporting adequately on Harris’ “political deficits”

Vivek Ramaswamy also accused the media at a Trump campaign press conference in Chicago on Thursday morning of not reporting sufficiently on Harris’ policy proposals.

“Many have covered up Joe Biden’s cognitive deficits, just as I worry the media is now covering up Kamala Harris’s political deficits, and both times the American people are left behind.”

Ramaswamy also listed the celebrities who attended the DNC this week, portraying them as a distraction from the issues at stake in this election campaign.

“I see Oprah Winfrey. I see John Legend. I see Lil Jon,” Ramaswamy said. “Great — then tell me what she stands for anyway.”

During the convention programs, Trump remained largely quiet on the platform, speaking mainly in interviews and at events he held in swing states.

White House responds to Trump’s criticism of Shapiro as “the highly overrated Jewish” governor of Pennsylvania

The White House issued a statement on anti-Semitism the morning after Donald Trump criticized Josh Shapiro as “the vastly overrated Jewish governor of the Great Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.”

Trump wrote on social media that Shapiro “refused to acknowledge that I am the best friend Israel and the Jewish people have ever had.”

Herbie Ziskend, the White House’s deputy communications director, said: “It is anti-Semitic, dangerous and hurtful to attack a fellow American by denouncing his Jewish faith in a derogatory manner or by perpetuating the centuries-old slander of ‘dual loyalty.'”

He added: “President Biden and Vice President Harris believe that we must come together as Americans to condemn and combat anti-Semitism – and hatred and bigotry of all kinds.”

Trump’s allies are still running counter-programs against Harris’ policies as the DNC wraps up its sessions

At a press conference on Thursday morning, Carlos Trujillo, Trump’s ambassador to the Organization of American States, condemned the Biden-Harris administration’s policies that have “completely undone” the Trump-era immigration gains.

Vivek Ramaswamy, a businessman who went from being one of Trump’s Republican rivals to one of his most vocal surrogates, listed crime statistics for the city of Chicago. The city hosting the DNC is “ravaged and destroyed … by rampant crime, exacerbated by the impact of mass illegal immigration into this country,” Ramaswamy said. He blamed the Biden-Harris administration, and the vice president in particular, for their stewardship of the border.

“From one child of legal immigrants in this country to another, my message to them is: Shame on you,” Ramaswamy said.

Trump also said that Democrats at the DNC spend more time talking about him than about issues

“It’s like they’re having a party. They don’t mention the border. They just make up lies about me,” the Republican presidential candidate complained when he called “Fox & Friends” on Thursday morning.

Trump will visit the southern border in Cochise County, Arizona, on Thursday and continue to criticize the Biden administration’s border policies.

He spent the week campaigning in the battleground states.

Democrats said Wednesday night they would take a leadership role on the U.S.-Mexico border and work toward political solutions rather than simply demonizing immigrants and trying to use the issue as a political motive for their voter base.

Texas Rep. Veronica Escobar of the border city of El Paso said: “Forget what you hear on the news, that’s where I’m from. … When it comes to the border, listen to me when I say: You know nothing, Donald Trump.”

Trump criticizes Democrats for their connection to Project 2025

Former President Donald Trump is criticizing Democrats’ ongoing efforts to link him to the conservative Heritage Foundation’s Project 2025 at this week’s Democratic National Convention.

In a call to “Fox and Friends” on Thursday before the final night of the convention, Trump called the efforts “disgraceful.”

“You know I had nothing to do with it. I had no idea what it was,” he said, even though the plan – which Trump and his campaign have repeatedly denied – was written by many longtime former aides. “I have no idea what Project 2025 is.”

He particularly criticized Democrats’ statement that he would sign a federal abortion ban after appointing the Supreme Court justices who overturned Roe v. Wade.

“I would never do that,” Trump said. “There will be no federal ban. This is now back in the states where it belongs.”

Trump also attacked Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, Harris’ running mate, who spoke at the convention on Wednesday night, calling him a “total lightweight.”

Democrats gave freedom a broad definition

The theme of Wednesday night’s convention was “freedom.” Accompanied by Beyoncé’s song of the same name, which the musician has given the Harris campaign permission to use, the word flashed on the video screen and in speech after speech at the United Center.

The Democrats closely linked this development to the fight for reproductive rights, which was in full swing after the failure of the Roe v. Wade ruling.

But Democrats also used the freedom argument to attack Republicans on other social issues, from gay rights to the increasing banning of books in schools.

Hundreds of demonstrators gathered in front of the park and train station on the third evening of the Democratic Party Convention

More than 1,000 pro-Palestinian protesters marched past a park on Wednesday where pro-Israel demonstrators had previously gathered.

The demonstration was largely peaceful. The day before, there had been violent clashes between police and demonstrators, in which 56 people were arrested.

As protesters passed under a new elevated train station near the United Center that had been completed just before the DNC, police officers were seen taking a person to the ground on the platform above. In response, hundreds of protesters pushed against the edge of the station, banging their hands and flagpoles against the glass, and demanding that police release the person. The person exited the station moments later through the emergency exit, escorted by police officers but not handcuffed, prompting cheers from the crowd.
