Southwest Airlines announces direct flights from Austin to Reno and Milwaukee

Southwest Airlines is expanding its nonstop service from Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) for the spring 2025 schedule, airport officials announced Thursday.

Effective March 6, 2025, the airline will launch new seasonal nonstop service to Reno-Tahoe International Airport (RNO) and year-round nonstop service to Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport (MKE).

The expansion also includes the resumption of seasonal routes to destinations such as Panama City, Florida; Montrose, Colorado; and San Juan, Puerto Rico.

During peak periods, Southwest will operate 125 nonstop flights daily from AUS, significantly expanding the airline’s presence at the airport.

AUS CEO Ghizlane Badawi was excited about the expansion, saying, “We appreciate Southwest’s investment in new and returning services and can’t wait to offer our travelers more options for travel to and from Austin.”
