Woman arrested after ‘argument’ over Applebee’s ‘all you can eat’ offer

A woman was arrested following an “altercation” over an “all you can eat” offer at a popular restaurant chain.

Last month, US chain Applebee’s announced the return of its popular offering, promising customers endless amounts of boneless chicken wings, riblets and double crunch shrimp.

In a press release, the company said the limited-time offer allows people to “enjoy the flavors of summer” with an “unbeatable feast” of American specialties, all for $15.99 per person.

Joel Yashinsky, chief marketing officer of Applebee’s, said in a statement at the time: “Our all-you-can-eat offering with boneless wings, riblets and double crunch shrimp is the perfect way for our guests to eat their fill and go home with a full wallet.

“From America’s favorite boneless wings, available in six delicious sauces, to our slow-cooked riblets and crispy breaded Double Crunch shrimp, summer has never tasted better at Applebee’s.”

Hoping to take advantage of the offer along with several others, a 28-year-old woman visited a local Applebee’s in Portage, Indiana on August 2nd.

However, the meal ended in chaos and Portage police said she was later arrested and charged with disorderly conduct.

A police report obtained by Today states that Portage police were called to an Applebee’s at 6211 US Highway 6 around 8:30 p.m. for a “verbal disturbance.”

The officer said in the report that dispatchers were warned of “several women screaming” who were also “threatening people.”

A member of the group told the officer that he had been involved in a “verbal altercation” with a manager because he believed that the “all you can eat” offer applied to the entire table if only one guest ordered.

However, when the manager explained that everyone would have to pay a fee of $15.99 for the offer, an argument broke out.

Another argument broke out when the guests received their bill from the manager, who then called the police.

The officer in charge said the 28-year-old woman had become “very loud and disorderly and her behavior attracted the attention of other guests” and that despite his attempts to calm her down, she continued to “scream and behave disorderly.”

As Today reports, one member of the group went back to the restaurant and paid the bill in full after realizing that the menu actually stated that the deal was for an individual.

The terms and conditions on Applebee’s website state that the offer is “valid per person, per order,” and adds, “No substitutions allowed.”

The LADbible Group has contacted Applebee’s for comment.
