Official trailer for Almodóvar’s “The Room Next Door”

Pedro Almodóvar’s first feature film, “The Room Next Door,” will be released in theaters on October 18. It was shot entirely in English and is based on the novel by Sigrid Nunez. It stars Tilda Swinton and Julianne Moore. Both can be seen in the first official trailer for “The Room Next Door,” which was released today.

According to the official synopsis, The Next Room tells the story of “a deeply flawed mother and bitter daughter torn apart by a major misunderstanding.” Swinton plays the mother, a war reporter, and Moore plays a close friend, a writer, and “a receptacle for her pain and bitterness.”

“The film tells of the limitless cruelty of war, of the very different approaches and the way in which the two authors describe reality, it tells of death, friendship and sexual desire as the best allies in the fight against horror,” the text continues. “And it also tells of the sweet awakening to birdsong in a house in the middle of a nature reserve in New England, where the two friends experience an extreme and strangely sweet situation.”

The official “The Next Room” poster was unveiled a few weeks ago:
