Dylan Jones: “I’m excited to be relaunching London’s only major newspaper, an essential news tabloid full of lively opinion, cultural headlines and political gossip.”

According to Evening Standard Limited, the first edition of the London Standard will be distributed on 26 September 2024. This marks the beginning of a new chapter in the London media market and represents an important addition to the wider digital Standard portfolio.

The publisher says the 24/7 digital offering will now be complemented by a weekly newspaper celebrating the best of what London has to offer, from entertainment guides to lifestyle, sport, culture and news – the drumbeat of life in the city.

The London Standard is a new weekly newspaper that combines the qualities of newspapers that audiences have read for nearly two hundred years. Opinion, analysis, interviews and thoroughly researched articles will be combined with ES Magazine’s core values: design, visual impact, luxury lifestyle content and relevance, the publisher added. With an insider flair, it will offer an original, dynamic view of all things London – commentary, consumer advice, business, fashion, food, travel, reviews, politics and the trendiest places in London to enjoy the weekend, the publisher continued.

Dylan Jones, Editor-in-Chief, said: “I am delighted to be relaunching London’s only major newspaper, an essential news bulletin full of lively opinion, cultural headlines and political gossip. It guides informed Londoners through the best our city has to offer, bringing together magazine and newspaper content in the most original print package on the market.”

The London Standard is published every Thursday and replaces the weekly ES Magazine. The last issue of ES Magazine will be published on 12 September, to coincide with London Fashion Week. The last daily edition of the Evening Standard will be published on 19 September. Until then, the publisher says it will continue to publish a three-day edition from Tuesday to Thursday.

This development marks a new chapter in the Evening Standard’s history, with strategic changes to its business designed to strengthen its position as one of London’s leading newspapers. The publisher says it will continue to serve its loyal national audience across multiple platforms, including digital, social, audio and now with an all-new weekly print product edited by Dylan Jones.
