The Natural History Institute features contemporary and traditional art that explores the deep, reciprocal relationship between humans and nature. The ongoing exhibition, “Green Guardians: Artists Standing Strong for the Verde River,” running April 26 through October 11, 2024, highlights the urgent need to preserve the Upper Verde River. Using a variety of media—paintings, sculptures, and other installations—artists raise their voices to advocate for the Upper Verde River’s federal designation as a Wild and Scenic River. This exhibition is more than an artistic expression; it is a powerful call to action, urging visitors to value, protect, and advocate for the preservation of the Verde River. The gallery will be open during the Art Walk from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., inviting visitors to delve into this important environmental concern.
