Peacemaker Star John Cena had a brief but memorable role in Amy Schumer’s 2015 comedy Train accidentTheir brief scenes together included an awkward sex scene, and Cena found it very embarrassing to film.
Cena was recently a guest on Shannon Sharpe’s Club Shay Shay Podcast. He commented on his Train accident work and praised Schumer as an “angel” who made their filming together more enjoyable. Still, it was a surprise for Cena to learn about the sex scene, as he had originally signed on assuming he would have a much more significant role. Things didn’t get much better for Cena, who recalled how strange it felt to film the sex scene with Schumer while so many other people on set could see (or hear) what he was doing.
“Amy is an angel, she made it such a comfortable atmosphere, and then when I got the part, at one point they said, ‘Yeah, it’s a sex scene. We want you to do elaborate and crazy stunt sex, and all those lines you had?’ We probably won’t use them, we’ll just do this stunt sex scene‘” Cena recalled. “It’s like a great production. But dude, man, the catering was right there and the sound booth was right there. It takes so many people to make a movie. There’s nothing intimate about it. Nothing. It’s really embarrassingand then do a weird sex scene where you make fun of yourself? They literally said: “Try to have the most uncomfortable sex you can.’”

Schumer took notice of Cena’s comments on the podcast and responded in her Instagram stories (according to THR). The comedian joked, “John, how dare you. This sex scene meant a lot to me and I was totally thrilled by it. And I’m in love with you.”

Recently, Cena felt similarly uncomfortable while exposing his body at the Academy Awards. As part of a skit, Cena walked on stage with a wrap over his groin, looking as though he was completely naked. The WWE legend explained that the incident felt awkward, as he was doing it in front of a room full of A-list celebrities he greatly admired, not to mention the millions watching on television. Cena admitted that he was concerned that the gag would not go over well.
“I walk up to a room full of my peers – many of whom I’ve never met because I haven’t worked my way up to meet them,” Cena noted. “I’ve got the most decorated artists, producers and directors in a room and I walk out there with my balls in the wind, with an index card over my stuff, and I’m like, ‘Hey guys, is this funny? Are we good?'”
