'There's still a long way to go' - Manchester City star will re-watch Chelsea's performance to 'improve the final pass'

Manchester City’s Jeremy Doku has insisted he will repeat his performance against Chelsea to review his game and work on improvements at the training ground.

The reigning Premier League champions began their mission to once again defend their title in England’s top flight with a largely routine opening weekend victory, dispatching Enzo Maresca’s work-in-progress project with a 2-0 draw at Stamford Bridge.

First-half goals from Erling Haaland and a late individual effort from Mateo Kovacic secured the three points, a performance that also saw two impressive wingers on either side make their debuts for Pep Guardiola’s side.

Savinho earned his Premier League debut by starting on the left side of Manchester City’s front three before moving to the right, accompanied by Jeremy Doku, who did the same on the opposite side to the Brazilian.

Speaking to reporters after Manchester City’s 2-0 win, Jeremy Doku explicitly revealed that he wants to re-watch his performance at Stamford Bridge in order to improve on the training ground.

“I feel comfortable in this team – I know that I have not yet reached my full potential and that I still have a long way to go with a lot of room for improvement,” said Doku.

“I look at each game individually to see what I can improve. I’m happy with my performance, but I still think I can make the final pass even better.”

The Belgian winger continued: “I will look at this game again and see what I can improve for the next game. I want to have a big impact and play a big role in this team.”

“Every time I get the chance to be on the pitch, I want to perform, be decisive and score some goals and assists.”

Doku could have an immediate chance to correct any mistakes he feels he made against Chelsea by facing the defence of newly promoted Ipswich Town on Saturday afternoon.

Kieran McKenna’s side go into this clash having suffered defeat to Liverpool at Portman Road on the opening weekend, and will face Arne Slot’s side in a tough reception in top-flight football before visiting the Premier League champions the following game week.
