Kirk Cousins’ birthday playlist proves the Falcons quarterback is an emo

Don’t give Kirk Cousins the extra cable at your party unless you’re ready to immerse yourself in a nostalgic look back at emo music.

To celebrate their quarterback’s 36th birthday, the Atlanta Falcons let Cousins choose the playlist to play during the team’s practice on Tuesday – and it’s a delight for pop-punk kids in skinny jeans, studded belts and Vans.

KIRK COUSINS LISTED AS DJ AT ATLANTA FALCONS TRIAL

As someone who has successfully DJ’d at the prestigious Emo Night Brooklyn across the country and Europe for over 8 years and has been on the Vans Warped Tour for years, I have to say that Kirk Cousins’ emo credentials are up there with the best. In fact, I may have to ask him to be one of our guest DJs next time we’re in the same city because my guy brought ALL the nostalgic hits.

Cousins’ playlist featured the perfect mix of popular pop-punk bangers like “The Middle” by Jimmy Eat World, “All The Small Things” by Blink 182 and “Ocean Avenue” by Yellowcard, with a perfect mix of deeper cuts like “Dear Maria” by All Time Low and “Stereo Hearts” by Travie McCoy of Gym Class Heroes, which is an absolute VIBE.

A FUMBLE OF THE COUSINS…

But just like Cousins knows he has to keep all of his wide receivers happy with passes during a game, he also incorporated some songs that EVERYONE knows. There is no doubt that the team sang along to The Killers’ “Mr. Brightside” because I don’t think it’s humanly possible not sing the lyrics when the song is playing. The same goes for his decision to include 3 Doors Down’s “Kryptonite,” which I probably haven’t heard in a decade but whose chorus I still know like I was driving to school and hearing it on the radio nonstop.

The only song that shouldn’t have been included and would automatically lead to the next song is “This Love” by Maroon 5. The song STINKS and Adam Levine is almost pathetic with that over the top and annoying chorus. We’re calling this the Pick Six of Kirk Cousins’ playlist.

However, the Falcons’ newly signed quarterback made up for it by opting for the Foo Fighters’ all-time hit and their classic “Best of You.” This is something the team is hoping to see after signing the veteran quarterback to a four-year, $180 million deal last season.

It is not yet known if we will get an Emo Kirk, like we got an Emo Jimmy Butler earlier this year.
