Trailer for “The Room Next Door” gives a taste of Almodóvar’s first English-language feature film

After two short English films with The human voice And Strange way of life, Pedro Almodovar is ready to make his first full-length English-language feature film with The room next door. The film, written and directed by Almodóvar, is an adaptation of Sigrid Nunez‘S What are you going through and stars Tilda Swinton, Julianne Moore, John Turturro, Alessandro Nivola, Juan Diego BottoAnd Melina Matthews.

Here is the plot summary:

“The film is about Ingrid (Julianne Moore) and Martha (Tilda Swinton), who were close friends in their youth when they worked together for the same magazine. Ingrid later became an autofiction writer, while Martha became a war reporter. Life circumstances separated them. After years of no contact, they meet again in an extreme but strangely sweet situation.”

The film will have its world premiere on September 2 at the Venice Film Festival before moving on to Toronto, San Sebastián and New York. It will be released in New York and Los Angeles on December 20 before opening in other theaters on December 25. A nationwide release is planned for January 2025.
