Busan Story Market presents 29 Korean IP selections

The Busan Story Market today unveiled 29 original Korean IP selections, including 11 books, eight webtoons, six web novels and four stories.

These projects were selected from a pool of 237 submissions from 110 companies. The event is part of the Asian Contents & Film Market (ACFM), which takes place from October 5 to 8 during the Busan International Film Festival.

Organizers said there was a shift in the selection process this year compared to previous years, when stories were the main focus: the focus is now “on books and web novels – formats that have already undergone validation.”

They also said that despite a reduction in the submission limit per company from five to three, the total number of submissions increased by 10%, “underscoring the strong demand for the adaptation of original IPs into films.”

Selected projects include horror romance Phantom Dating Sim and crime drama Round (both from CJ ENM Studios and Toons Family Branch), horror thriller Take another route to escape the forest (from A2Z Entertainment) and science fiction drama A Thousand Blues by Contents Lab Blue.

Projects based on webtoons and web novels also include All summer, I’m marrying my brother-in-law, I refuse to become the disgraced concubine, Infinite chain, The Karma Note, Marriage Blues, The official maid, Reading, not readable, The Reborn Boss, Sun-kissed snow And The worst roommate.
