PORT LUDLOW – The Port Ludlow Art League will host a reception for JoAnna Caro on Wednesday from 4 to 6 p.m.
The reception will begin in the lobby of Sound Community Bank, 9500 Oak Bay Road, and move to the adjacent League Gallery at 5 p.m.
After her retirement, Caro began exploring different art mediums before settling on abstract acrylic painting.
“The further you move away from reality and the closer you get to total abstraction, the more you will develop your own artistic sensibility,” Caro said. “Neglecting details and using color, light, lines and shapes without restriction is difficult, but the reward of these visual elements becomes a joyful expression.”
Sheryl Goldsberry has created necklaces with broken glass pendants to honor women who have broken the glass ceiling. Her latest creations feature different colored glass.
Goldsberry’s handmade necklaces are a statement and recognition of achievements for all women.
Caro’s acrylic paintings and Goldsberry’s necklaces will be on display at the gallery Tuesday through Friday from 12pm to 4pm throughout August.
