Opening of “Story Line Books” at Union Depot

Opening of “Story Line Books” at Union Depot

The new Story Line Books bookstore is scheduled to open in September at the Union Depot in downtown St. Paul. Located in the Head House between Choo Choo Bob’s Train Store and 1881 by Lake Elmo Inn, the bookstore will offer a wide range of genres and a more curated selection of fiction and children’s books.

“Story Line Books is the perfect addition to our vibrant tenant mix and we can’t wait to welcome them to Union Depot,” said Lindsay Boyd, general manager of Union Depot, in a press release. “Their focus on fiction and children’s literature, combined with their community-focused events, will greatly enhance our space.”

Owner and operator Danielle Miller is taking the plunge into this new venture after giving up her career as a lawyer to open the store. “I’ve spent the last eight years in a profession that drained my mind and soul,” Miller says in the press release. “I can’t believe I get the opportunity to spend my days surrounded by books and other people who love them!”

The name Story Line Books is a reference to both the plot of a book and railroad lines. According to the press release, “Miller’s love of trains, historic places and bookstores informed her decision to open Story Line Books in the Union Depot.”

“Places related to old trains are heaven on earth,” Miller’s statement reads. “When I moved to Minnesota, I dreamed of having a shop in Saint Paul because it’s such a beautiful city. The first available place I found for rent was this one. It felt like the universe was telling me to give it a try. It has the right size, the right atmosphere, and the right people. Working with Union Depot management has been incredible so far, and I feel like I’m joining a team and not traveling into the great unknown all alone.”

In addition to browsing the shelves, the new bookstore will also host events including author readings and book signings, and monthly book clubs will be organized to help readers network in the book community.

The store is open daily from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. For more news about the new bookstore, visit the Story Line Books website.
