Deciphering the art of the Franceschi House

The Pearl Chase Society continues its Kellam de Forest Lecture Series with a talk by Rick Closson on Friday, August 30th at 5:30pm in the Alhecama Theatre.

There has been much discussion about the Franceschi House and what will become of it. Although its future is still uncertain, we can learn a lot about its colorful past, and no one is better suited to tell the untold stories than Rick Closson.

At Closson’s talk last year – the first in the Kellam de Forest lecture series – he revealed a hidden history of Kellam that few people knew. This presentation will reveal a hidden history of Franceschi House that not even Kellam knew.

It is the journey of a man’s life from humble birth to fabulous wealth and enlightenment. Along the way there are encounters with people whose historical names we still know, but who have been immortalized in the Franceschi House based on the peculiar vision of Alden Freeman.

In addition, Rick will unveil an important sculpture by a well-known 20th century national academic on the property that has never been exhibited before.

Seating is limited. Reservations may be made at 805-961-3938.

Refreshments will be served following the presentation. The Alhecama Theater, 215 East Canon Perdido Street in downtown Santa Barbara.

The event is free; donations to support the program are very welcome.
