Ask a police officer: Green means “go”, but one at a time

Ask: Hi, we took a trip to the cities this summer. While we were there, we came across these highway ramp meters. I know we don’t have those outside the state of Minnesota, but I thought maybe you could write about them in one of your articles, for anyone who travels. Thanks for all you do, and stay safe!

Answer: Thank you very much. I don’t think I’ve written anything on this topic before, but I’d like to.

Entrance lights are traffic lights on highway ramps that help regulate traffic flow. Like traffic lights at intersections, red, yellow and green lights indicate when drivers can proceed. When the light is green, only one car can proceed.
