Michael Keaton didn’t care about the cancellation of “Batgirl”: “Big, funny, nice check”

Michael Keaton is not too upset about the Batgirl Film is cancelled.

In a new interview, the actor talked about the DC film that was ultimately put on hold by Warner Bros. and in which he would have reprised his role as Bruce Wayne.

“I didn’t care,” Keaton said GQ. “Big, funny, beautiful check.”

Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah were the directors behind Batgirlwhich Keaton said he was “very sorry” about.

“I like these guys. They’re nice guys. I’m rooting for them,” he added. “I want them to succeed and I think they felt very bad and that made me feel bad. I’m fine.”

Keaton first played the superhero in Tim Burton’s Batman in 1989 and repeated his role in The Flash in 2023.

The actor is now considered one of the best actors to ever portray the Caped Crusader, which Keaton attributes to Burton.

“He changed everything,” he added. “I can’t say for sure, but it’s quite possible that without Tim Burton there would be no Marvel universe, no DC universe. He was doubted and questioned.”

Warner Bros. announced in August 2022 that Batgirl would not progress, and star Leslie Grace shared the news with her fans with a heartfelt message on Instagram.

“Querida familia! Following the recent news of our film Batgirl, I am proud of the love, hard work and intention our incredible cast and tireless crew put into this film over the 7 months in Scotland. I feel blessed to have worked under absolute greats and built lifelong relationships along the way! To all the Batgirl fans – THANK YOU for the love and belief that allowed me to put on the cape and become, as Babs put it best, ‘my own damn hero’! Batgirl for life!” wrote Leslie Grace.
