Recently, the publisher announced a type of game that surprised some fans.

Microids is a French video game publisher founded in 1985. It specializes in adventure games, racing games and titles inspired by retro games. It has collaborated with developer Oddworld Inhabitants, known for its recent title. Special word: Soulstorm an adventure platform game. Microids has also released games known for their aesthetics, such as the Syberia Series with its setting in the Soviet era. Microids’ next project follows its own high-quality aesthetic and seems to be different from all previous releases.

This will be Anomalie’s first published game, with a second title called Above the darkness listed on the developer’s website is still under active development. Melobot – One Last Song has rhythm and adventure elements, which is a strong departure from Microids’ previous game, Sifuone of the best beat-em-ups of all time. Microids has never released a rhythm game before and this will be its first foray into this untapped genre.

This game is about a small musical robot who must save his planet from a deadly disease. The robot can use a range of instruments to hit the melodies of various plants and fight mysterious mechanical beings bent on destruction. Playing along with a plant is similar to learning a song in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. As the notes roll down a horizontal path, the player must match the inputs displayed on each note. Players can explore unique biomes with diverse flora and fauna, presented in a stunning visual style.

Melobot – One Last Song will be released on September 12th for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Steam. There is a demo on the Steam page for anyone who wants to try the game, but it doesn’t seem like it’s available to try on other platforms. Whether a demo will be released for those consoles remains to be seen.
