General Hospital’s Kirsten Storms tells a “story” about her black eye

General Hospital Star Kirsten Storms has been through a lot both in real life and as Maxie on the show. But a simple, everyday task proved damaging in an unexpected way, and she shared the results with her fans.

A shocking black eye

After undergoing brain surgery and mental health issues in 2021, GH’s Kirsten Storms (Maxie) recently went through an amazing transformation as her character entered a new romantic relationship with Spinelli (Bradford Anderson) and overcame adversity. But on August 8, she shared a surprising selfie on Instagram that left her fans confused and worried. In the black-and-white snap, she shows off a huge black eye with bruising on the bridge and tip of her nose, as well as large bruises extending from one of her eyes down to her mouth. She wrote of what should have been a simple task that turned out to be hurtful: “One of those ‘funny stories but not funny when I need coffee’ moments…”

She then explained that the black eye was real and took it in stride, continuing, “I’ve opened multiple cans of @illy_coffee and never once have grounds flown out of that cute metal container. ::sigh:: There’s a first time for everything. 🤷🏼‍♀️.” She hilariously added, “It’s safe to say I prefer my coffee brewed with hot water (or over ice)… it doesn’t taste as good straight out of the can. 😁 (*In her defense, there is a warning on the lid. It’s written in multiple languages.*)”

Fans and colleagues were horrified

Storms’ co-star Finola Hughes (Anna) responded, “I thought this was a GH story!! I’m thinking to myself, ‘Who would dare give Maxie a black eye?'” Several fans thought the same as Hughes, with one responding, “@finolafilona right?!! So who would be stupid enough to give Maxie a black eye?!! 😂.” Not missing the opportunity for an obvious GH joke, one fan replied, “Corinthos coffee? 😂,” to which several fans also responded with crying/laughing emojis. Of course, Corinthos Coffee is the legitimate front company for our favorite gangster Sonny (Maurice Benard).

Recipe author Michelle Lundstrom, who appeared in season 2 of the Netflix series, BBQ Showdownwho is also currently dating Storms’ co-star Steve Burton (Jason), wrote: “😂😂😂 It looked like an amazing makeup look for Halloween.”

Storm’s coffee-related injury is one that makeup artists everywhere should look to as a reference, but she overcame it with grace and humor. Although she also knits on the side, we hope she stays safe and doesn’t suffer any knitting injuries.
