Elisabeth Hasselbeck questioned Vice President Kamala Harris’s eating of a bag of Doritos in response to former President Donald Trump’s 2016 election victory.
Harris wrote in a campaign email on Friday that after Trump’s election victory, she went home and ate a family-sized bag of Doritos and “didn’t share a chip with anyone,” not even her husband.
The email was meant to be a relatable anecdote, as many Americans were rightly afraid after Trump’s victory in 2016. But Hasselbeck, who hosted “The View” from 2003 to 2013, criticized Harris’ response on Friday’s episode of “Hannity” on Fox News, saying relatability is not the same as ability.
“That’s potentially the commander in chief,” Hasselbeck said, referring to Harris. “That’s the emotional response of the leader of the free world? Stuffing a bag of Doritos into his mouth? Are you serious? Can you imagine (Vladimir) Putin dealing with things, chowing down a bag of Sour Patch Kids because he’s depressed because something isn’t going his way?”
Hasselbeck continued: “The cloud of identification that is currently being cast over Americans is just to disguise the fact that there is a lack of capability. Kamala Harris has failed at the border. So what are we going to do? Give her the globe? Is this some kind of joke?”
Hasselbeck, who was often the only conservative woman on “The View” during her tenure, also criticized the show for not currently representing a conservative viewpoint.
“I think the viewer is currently missing the opportunity to hear a different perspective,” Hasselbeck said, adding that the hosts “do not represent American women.”
“They do not represent the voters of America. They do not. I doubt there is a single person on this panel who would say they would vote for Donald Trump.”
