I don’t think we’re in the third inning yet

Paul Heyman doesn’t think the Bloodline story is already in the third inning.

Heyman famously said that the story of The Bloodline was at the bottom of the third inning after Roman Reigns defeated Jey Uso at WWE SummerSlam 2023. A year later, a lot has changed. Solo Sikoa took over The Bloodline and added Jacob Fatu, Tama Tonga and Tonga Loa. Roman Reigns lost the World Title to Cody Rhodes and was absent until he returned at WWE SummerSlam 2024. Jimmy Uso was eliminated by the new Bloodline, while Jey Uso remains under his own steam on RAW.

In conversation with Sam Roberts at Fanatics Fest NYCPaul Heyman discussed the Bloodline storyline. He noted that the third inning hadn’t even started yet. (H/t Ian Carey of F4WOnline.com for the transcription)

“I couldn’t imagine anyone coming in today and saying, ‘Yeah, I’ve seen enough of The Bloodline. Enough of them. It’s OK, Roman, thanks, see you later!'” Some people tried to criticize me last year, like, ‘Oh, Paul Heyman said they were only in the third inning, what a jerk Paul Heyman is!’

“I have news for you. I don’t think we’re even in the third inning and now you see the emergence of Solo and Jacob Fatu and the Tongans and the fact that they pose a real threat, for the first time a real threat to Roman Reigns’ dominance, to Roman Reigns sitting at the top of the table, to Roman Reigns being the top star, to Roman Reigns actually being the Tribal Chief. How many stories can we tell from the position we’re in now?”

Paul Heyman: You don’t know where the Usos stand

Paul Heyman further noted that there are still many variables in play, with Jimmy Uso absent and Jey Uso’s stance unclear. He hinted that Sikoa may have other weapons up his sleeve as well. Heyman reiterated that there are many possibilities.

“You don’t know where Jimmy Uso stands on this, you don’t know where Jey Uso stands on this, you don’t know if or when the Wise Man will return, you don’t know who else Solo has in his back pocket or not that is ready to debut,” Paul Heyman said. “You don’t know what our moves are, what Roman Reigns’ moves are, what my moves are, what anybody’s moves may be. All you know is Roman Reigns is back, he’s back to reclaim the Tribal Chiefs title from Solo, and Solo has so much support right now.”

“I can’t imagine someone coming into power in this company and saying we’ve told the entire story of The Bloodline. I can imagine someone coming into power and saying, ‘Oh my God, look what I can play with now.'”
